Interesting explanation Janna. I think it's more just an abbreviation thing though, myself- by making the noun into a verb you can say 'are you
caking?' instead of 'are you going to have some cake?' I guess you could say people do the same when they say 'I'm texting' as opposed to 'I'm
writing a text message'.
Somebody bring me something deep fried and smothered in
chocolate.
These lovely ladies with the big tits have been making me
laugh for more than 25 years. Ricky Gervais, who is a big tit, has made me laugh once.

Very true!
It's certainly used here to make things sound more important too - can be very funny (not that the person saying it means it to be)
